Risk Management - For Brokers

This course has been approved by the Minnesota Commissioner of commerce for 3 hours of real estate Continuing Education. 

This course is designed to provide brokers answers to frequently asked questions in the risk management area including insights into best practices for both issues that frequently arise in their practice and those that are unique, including compensation, disclosure, agency, and contractual issues. Both seller and licensee disclosure requirements will also be covered including material facts and exceptions to them, as well as other specific statutory and REALTOR® Code of Ethics disclosure requirements.

**Please note:  This class will be offered via the Zoom meeting platform, a live, virtual format.  Materials and class attendance requirements will be sent to you via email 48-hours prior to the class.   Video attendance is required.   If you register and are unable to attend, we would appreciate it if you would let us know 48 hours in advance of the class, this way we have an opportunity to allow another student to attend since class size is limited.

Note: Prepare to be on time as the DOC rules require that you cannot miss  ANY of each class or  NO CE can be given

Ryan Torpey
Ryan serves as director of member legal services and associate counsel for Minnesota Realtors®. He also works with various risk management programs, including Minnesota Realtors® approved Forms, Professional Standards, and the Legal Hotline. Ryan is a licensed attorney in Minnesota. Prior to joining the association in 2022, he practiced civil litigation, primarily in the areas of ethics and professional liability. Ryan received his B.A. from the University of Minnesota, and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School.

Jonathan Kopecky
Mr. Kopecky received his Juris Doctorate from The Saint Louis University School of Law in 1998 and has been licensed to practice law in both Iowa and Minnesota since 1999. Mr. Kopecky practiced Real Estate law for five years while an associate at Ackley, Kopecky & Kingery, LLP and then practiced Canon Law for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis for eight years. Mr. Kopecky is currently in-house counsel and the Director of Professional Standards for the Minnesota Association of REALTORS®.

Cancelations within 2 business days of the class will result in a $10 cancelation fee. "No shows" forfeit the registration fee.
