DescriptionLocationInstructorsCancellation Policy 2025-2026 Salesperson & Broker Required Module - Contracts This course has been approved by the Minnesota Commissioner of Commerce for 3.75 hours of Real Estate Continuing Education. This course provides real estate professionals both agents and brokers with practical answers to frequently asked questions about real estate contracts. Participants will explore recent changes to industry standards and rules, along with the legal requirements for properly forming agreements. The course highlights best practices for addressing common and unique contractual challenges, including compensation, disclosure obligations, and other critical issues. It also covers seller and licensee disclosure responsibilities, including material facts, exceptions, statutory requirements, and REALTORS® Code of Ethics standards. For brokers, additional topics include contract default and cancellation procedures, CIC (Common Interest Community) disclosure requirements, agency law, and broker-to-broker compensation agreements, offering a deeper dive into the complexities of managing contracts in a supervisory role. ON DEMAND INFO On-demand classes are timed and adhere to the "seat-time" requirement set by the Minnesota Department of Commerce (DOC) for course approval. Continuing education credits can only be earned by attending the course in full, corresponding to the approved hours (MN Statute 45.30 Subd 4a). Courses are available 24/7, with brief downtime for updates and administration, until the stated expiration date. To complete the course, students must finish all modules, meet the learning objectives and activities, pass the final exam, and complete an end-of-course survey. The course must be finished before the expiration date noted in the student’s campus account––credit will not be awarded after the course loses its active/approved status. MNR Academy MNR Academy Ryan Torpey Ryan serves as director of member legal services and associate counsel for Minnesota Realtors®. He also works with various risk management programs, including Minnesota Realtors® approved Forms, Professional Standards, and the Legal Hotline. Ryan is a licensed attorney in Minnesota. Prior to joining the association in 2022, he practiced civil litigation, primarily in the areas of ethics and professional liability. Ryan received his B.A. from the University of Minnesota, and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School. John Wittmer John serves as Director of Professional Standards and Associate Counsel for Minnesota Realtors®. Prior to joining the legal department at Minnesota Realtors®, John spent nearly ten years in private practice representing and advising clients including common interest communities, homeowners, and home construction contractors. John received his B.A. from the University of Texas and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School. Jonathan Kopecky Mr. Kopecky received his Juris Doctorate from The Saint Louis University School of Law in 1998 and has been licensed to practice law in both Iowa and Minnesota since 1999. Mr. Kopecky practiced Real Estate law for five years while an associate at Ackley, Kopecky & Kingery, LLP and then practiced Canon Law for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis for eight years. Mr. Kopecky is currently in-house counsel and the Director of Professional Standards for the Minnesota Association of REALTORS®. The course is accessible 24/7, with only minimal downtime for updates and administration, up until the course's stated expiration date.It must be completed before the expiration date listed on the student’s MNR Academy account.
